Step One is a half way house designed to provide temporary housing for adults who are in need of a safe and supportive twelve step environment while enrolled in intensive outpatient treatment. Step One does not provide counseling or treatment services but requires its clients to be in treatment while in residence. The goal of Step One is to provide an environment, which supports the client’s integration into the recovering community as a primary means of support. Residence at Step One is available for up to 12 weeks. While at Step One clients commit to being enrolled in intensive outpatient treatment, regular attendance at twelve step support group meetings, and regular attendance at sober social functions. The minimum age for clients at Step One is 18. Any client admitted into Step One must be deemed appropriate by the staff. Step One will not admit anyone who is acutely suicidal, homicidal, at risk for AWOL, or are in need of detoxification. Step One also will not admit anyone who is need of acute medical or psychiatric care.
