"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."

Hello Everyone!

I was going to wait to do this, but people might be traveling this week.  This is a good time of year to think of what we are grateful for!  Be thankful that you have a family to go eat with or even a meal to eat!  I like this quote that Clinton posted because without the help I received I would be a lost soul right now.  Sometimes we look back at the people that helped us and we have to smileSmile.  It only takes one person to help someone feel like they are cared for, even if it is only for a little while until we become better!  I'm grateful for the people who helped me through my tough times!

I am grateful that my father will be joining us this Thanksgiving!  Most of you know my father was ill in August and was in the C.C.U.  I am grateful for the people on here who helped me through this.

I am grateful that this site has been busy and it seems like more people want to become sober!  Newcomers keep coming back!

Everyone have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Ann

This is good.....  I am grateful that my Dad is doing better.  That I will be joining family for this Thanksgiving.  I'm grateful to be sober, (thought I'd never say that one).  I am grateful that I can give Zack a roof over his head, food in his belly, money to meet necessities, and my kids are healthy.  I wish all the troops well and hope all on site have a great day Thursday.  For all those that are still hurting, I hope they find happiness soon.

Let's see...

I am grateful to have the relationships I have today, with those who would not be in my life had I not quit drinking.

I am grateful for opportunities that I have not yet experienced.

I am grateful for my job, although it can be rough, I am thankful for the experience and knowledge I am gaining each day.

I am grateful to all of you, who have been here for so long with me.  And you know who "ya'll" are! :)

I am grateful to have this site so that "we" can help others together.

That is a beautiful quote. I live in Vermont and just got through the big ice storm up here. It was so scary, hearing these really loud snapping and cracking sounds outside every few minutes. It was branches, trees and telephone polls breaking. I can't believe the damage. The telephone polls would just snap in half and there were wires, trees, branches and polls all over the place. They probably won't be able to clean up all of the damage until springtime. I just got power back tonight, three full days later. We had no electricity, heat, phone, hot water, internet or hot water. I basically curled up on the couch and read by candle light. We had a kerosine heater to keep us warm (it really smelled but at least we had some warmth). That really brought me back down to the basics. The first day was no problem. The second day, it was kind of hard to deal with. The third day (Sunday) I really realized how much I take for granted. There are people up here that may not get power back until the end of the week. I pray that they are OK.

Even though this was such an inconvenience, I am grateful that I experienced it. It brings me back to the basics. I did a lot of journal writing and reflected on my life and how far I have come in recovery. I am so grateful for everything.

Hi Laura and welcome to the site.  Sometimes it takes something like that to happen for us to appreciate even small things in our lives.  Glad you're safe and we're thinking about your area.  Happy you posted here and hope you keep coming back.

Hi Laura, Welcome from me as well. I have learned over the years to take nothing for granted. My grandparents were from northern Ontario. I can remember the days when we would wake up to the snow covering the front door and getting up on the roof to shovel the snow off! Glad you are are back on!!

Blessings, BB

It's always OK in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.
