If you were completely successful in accomplishing what it is you want at this moment in time, what would be changed?

Well.....if I was perfect, I wouldn't have to change anything.  Nobody is that way though, we are always finding something we can change.  If you never change, you won't learn from your mistakes.  If you don't make mistakes, you won't meet the good people that can help you.

If you want a real answer though, my attitude always has room for improvement...

Keep coming back!

Well it's like this.....The one thing I would change in my life can not be changed so I guess I'll just leave the rest of it alone......Interesting....

Good question.  To avoid sounding like a mentally unstable person, I will just say that the type of changes I would change would all be intrinsic.

Hi Ann, This is a very interesting reply, I appreciate your honestly. If you were to make a change in your attitude, what would that feel like?

Hi Paw, thanks for your thoughts, life can be very challenging in this way. I'm wondering if you could just imagine, put reality aside for a moment, and picture what things would be like if you could change this unchangeable thing?

Hi Clinton, very interesting, this really makes me think. Can you describe what intrinsic change looks like to you?

Absolute love, happiness, laughter, a shoulder, a pat on the hand, and a mind to bounce stuff off of......A human touch that rates high above any other.  A smile that would melt your heart.  One liners that would keep your sides sore from laughing.  And I could go on and on............

Mine is more on the lines of latent anger, fear, and resentments.  All towards different people, situations, and things.   I have learned to "let Go" of them, and for the most part it works.  But at some point, they show themselves.    I feel like I have a pretty positive life, so I try to focus more on "what works" instead of "what needs to be fixed."  And that seems to suffice for me.

Are you familiar with "the work?", by Byron Katie.  This sounds very similar to me.    If this subject interests you, I would definitely look into some of her books.  She does a lot of writing in this area.

Very interesting question!  Why the curiosity?  What would you improve?  If I were to change my attitude, I think I would feel better.  We all feel better when our lives are more positive!  I will tell you this.....we all get so wrapped up in our own lives that we tend to forget others.  We need to slow down, be a little more patient.  Try to see ourselves in someone else's shoes.  Give someone help across the street, buy someone a coffee, give them your spare change.  No matter how bad you think your day may be........remember someone else has it worse.  Say hi to a random stranger, be nice to someone who is mean to you, and never forget to say your sorry.  I think I would tell a couple of people that I was sorry for being rude when they were trying to help me, and that I am forever greatful for their help.  I would tell some people that I miss them, and ask them how they are doing.

Believe in yourself when no one else does.  You all are worthwhile and have the power to change!

Keep coming back!

Ann

Thanks everyone for your wonderful replies. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this. It helped me to appreciate my life even more too.

As for "why the curiosity", I'm practicing some new coaching skills. It's my job as a coach to be curious and to learn how to ask powerful questions and then to listen on a deeper level to the response.

Thanks again for sharing!

ANN:

What would you improve?  What would you change?

I've been thinking about this and I've not found a simple answer. There is so much I would change, where do I begin?

So the question on the table is, "If you were completely successful in accomplishing what it is you want at this moment in time, what would be changed?"

At this moment in time, if I were successful in accomplishing what it is you want at this moment, I would be unburied from the feelings of guilt that weigh so heavily on me.

Wow, thanks Ann for pushing me, this is a big one. I've actually been journaling about it this morning. My biggest struggle right now is with my over-shopping habit. It started out as a way of rewarding myself after I quit drinking, but now it consumes me as well. I have traded in one habit for another, I feel incredible guilt over it.
