Hey Pat GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU!.YOU are correct my wife told me only"great " not great /great.i'll be great no matter what:) Yes staying busy and keeping spirits up.Hope you are well.Took me a moment when I walked to my stand saw my safety harness gone.So I wrote a "christian " style note saying .last year you took my trree spikes and rain umbrella for tree stand, this year my belt,if you need $$$ stop in "abilities first " where I work,i'll give you $$$ for a bow and you'll be all set>next day note was gone and a roll of duck tape had tied to my tree also.So then I realize not everyone has the same mind set as me,nothing is sacred, and if you leave it in the woods, well then see what happens!!On the other hand im kinda glad I didnt see someone face to face because "IM STILL NOT THAT WELL!!!..I have 3 tags left, probably try and fill 2 more. One more for my freezer ,one that I share with others..We'll see >>I really do enjoy bow season, not that much on "shotgun" here season.Lot of knuckle heads out there with weapons.I hunt alone so my wife knows if I m not back at certain time where to begin to find me,.Cell phones are also handy now, didnt have one years ago,Anyway thinking of you and rest of family and wish you peace and tranquillity(did we ever have tranquillity??)what is that?I think I USED TO DRINK THAT WITH ORANGE JUICE!!!!
You guys make me want to hunt!
My dad hunted while growing up, and we fished a lot too. We always lived on the water and always ate fish, and when in season, deer meat. Sure was good, especially the deer.
I just bought a crock-pot. Never wanted one -- too old fashioned I guess. I bought it this weekend and have already used it twice. Made chili one night, and soup the other. Now... after the chili, I really wish I had some deer instead of the ground beef.
I am training my replacement for my job as of yesterday. I have been applying to other jobs lately, almost three or four every day. Just heard back from one job this morning in Washington D.C. Nothing to be excited about, but they just liked my resume. Now I am completely lost as to what I want to do. Thought heavily about continuing my career, but lately have really wanted to keep going through the school system and get my Ph D. It's four to five more years, but I feel like since the economy is down, it might be the right time to get one. By the time I am 30 -- I could be finished (for good) and teaching fulltime at a university. So, I am completely lost as to where I am going in life, and I don't have a lot of time to decide. Keep me in your thoughts, please!
Good to hear that things are going well on both of your ends. Please know that I think of the both of you often!!!
Living a happy, joyous, and free life by embracing the mind, body, and spirit.
Hey Clint good to hear from you! oh yeah , I make great venison stew in crock pot, prep all nite before put on in a.m before i split for work come home BANG!!! there it is!I make more like a soup, beef broth and not thick sauce, even my wife cant tell the difference until i start"bleating" at the dinner table..:) :)!!She wont touch BAMBI with a 10 foot pole.oh well ,her loss,ANYWAY,I remember getting my associates degree in child care in my late 30's when i went back to school and after like 90 credits(on VA program)they said i had to be something soon.I also left and was clueless aboiut what work to do,Ended up here at ABILITIES FIRST(30 PLUS years ago)nothing wrong with going on we are never to old to learn(some of us the hard way!)Enjoy your youth especially in recovery(that must always come first)and I believe your HP will guide you through.I also think of you and all here often as i Identify WITH WHERE WE WERE AND THE JOURNEY WE ARE NOW ON!.Keep your positve outlook on life and follow your dreams, many times i have said what our literature says'once we put down the drugs and begin our recovery old dreams awaken and new possibilities arise! I definitely believe that....I'll check back in soon been doin this and that and this an a! peace my friend!
I just started checking in onsite more frequently. Although I do not wrote much, this last thread really gave me lots of pleasure. To be an active part of people forming and maintaining lasting relationships in recovery makes it all worthwhile. I know some of you are faithful and loyal users of sober.com and have ben for awhile. we appreciate it and our reward comes form being apart of you.
Thanks again for sharing, even the deer meat, that I once had when I lived in Vermont long ago.

Paw,thanks for sharing "those days" with us.Im the same be 62 years old but still a pup in many ways.It seems we had 3 separate lives, early before using(years up to 12 for me) 25 years of addiction and now coming on 25 years of recovery. My family never hunted ,we grew up in city, dad a cop, mom worked phone company,we fended for ourselves early.I used to go to the woods very young with my BB gun and shot different things, something about the peace of nature(God's beauty)Later on in life ,hung out with addicts on a farm where we hunted, drank ,drugged and farmed.Hard work but brought me close to the land,Learned to drive a tractor, plow a field, sell harvested potatoes, cut down trees(house heated by only wood stove, fire could "never go out!it was here ,in 1984 ,december 2nd,my deceased fathers birthday, that I came to after a run,,swore I was done with this lifestyle as I chose to live and never looked back. How I got to be daniel boone from there sometimes amazes even this city boy! Thanks for letting me share your life as I keep these images in my mind when I pray and have thoughts of our family here.Have a wonderful day ,im on the way out to my tree stand, sit and watch the hawks get their breakfast, maybehunt ,maybe just sit there!!!!talk to you on the rebound!! mike

Hello Everyone!
Congratulations on becoming a great grandpa Mike F! Seems like a lot of people are having babies lately! I'm not that into hunting, but hope you have a good time! If anyone wants to talk about fishing, that is more my style!

Hello Mike F!
Just saw a deer today. We are living in a protected area with no hunting allowed. Things are going okay. Staying busy!! Dad has had 4 treatments, and doing okay. He gets this week off, and has been a little tired. Fishing is a good hobbie! Nice way to relax. Always have done it sober, don't want to fall in the water! Especially since I use to live in Minnesota. I know a lot of girls who have tried fishing from there!! I have always enjoyed fishing with my dad! It is kind-of our thing to do together. Hope all of you are having a good week!
Peace be with you!
