Hope everyone is well and "living for today"Had a blessed weekend, our 'MEN DO RECOVER" saturday group put on a 'Speaker Jam,Fish Fry,SpadeTournament this weekend.Topic for speakers was 'the joy is in the journey".Wonderful message with some fiery speakers from around some different states. The fish fry was something different the kitchen did this event, was a big hit.Whiting breaded ,green beans and salads. Also a first time Spade Tournament(I pretty much stink at spades but great game).WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AND HELPED RAISE SOME $$$ FOR OUR NEXT EVENTS,GIVE TO AREA AND GET SOME LITERATURE ETC.I humbly made coffee from 1:00 p.m until after 10:30pm.Addicts sure do "love coffee and cookies> Great fellowship and quite a few "newcomers"We are in the process of trying to put on a Convention for the Mid Hudson chapters of NA in our area.Planning for 2010.I was asked to be a "trusted servant" as treasurer so we'll see how that goes.I was also asked by a recovery house to 'LEAD' a 6 year celebration for a member. Now thats a real blessing(a wednesday night AA group). We keep what we have by giving it away.Things are relatively "stable" for now in our household and in Gods hands. We are trying to "stay out of the way" and let the "work : happen..I wish all peace ,talk to you on the rebound!!Cool

Good to hear you are still hanging in there.  It's always good to read what you are up to!

Things are busy on my end.  Finishing school (for good!) in about eighty days.   My job expires around mid January, so there are a lot of unknowns right now.  I am looking closely at relocating to a lot of different areas across the United States.  A guy in my office had a heart attack last week, and there is a chance I will be staying here in Texas a bit longer (February - March).   So who knows, once I find a new job, we might be neighbors soon?  :)

Mike, glad to hear you're doing well.  I guess it's good for you to get more involved right now.  Helps to keep the mind from straying.

Clint, so happy for you.  You've worked hard for this.  You'll miss it, I know how much it's become a part of your life.

today is the next step in the journey......paw

Morning Paw! How are you?

yeah trying to keep things in perspective, but staying busy,I STARTED TRAINING AGAIN FOR MY RUNNING ESCAPADES.Ran 1/2 marathon last saturday(one I do everyyear) and a 5k this weekend.Helps me relax. My wife and I were debating a small trip to florida to see in laws but thought too much before holidays.Tonight probably $1 movies, only dollar to get in and usual $20.00 for popcorn and drink..I do have to be careful to not get overwhelmed with"staying busy though"My wife definitely keeps me grounded..like "hey what about me"!!!! I need that..Hope all is well in your corner.Have a great day ,talk to you on the rebound......Cool

Hey Mike F!

Glad you are keeping yourself busy!  Sometimes that is all we need to do to keep ourselves from not drinking/using.

Peace be with you!

hEY cLINT!     How ya doin!!

I got a kick out of your question today"are you a miner??I dont know if you ever saw "white men cant jump ?rosie perez says to woody harrelson when she is prepping for "jeopardy" in a rage"i got more useless information in my head, seven words that start with the letter Q etc.anyway sometimes my semantics only mean things to me and I believe everybody gets what im saying(not)..the phrase 'BACK TO THE SALT MINES"was taken from an American Idiom,in Siberia many years ago they would make prisoners bring salt out of the mines to the surface.Saying represented "hard work; T he humorous version of this is getting back to work after having off ,a weekend etc..Like Rosie said I got so many sayings and info in my head from years of 'BRAINSLUDDGING ' that sometimes I dont even know what im saying!!!My wife will look at me in  "that baffling countenance that I love so dearly!!!I am a manager in a facility for "people with disabilities".I have just celebrated 30 years on the job this past may>The first 5 years from 79-84 was the end of my active addiction.Only God could have allowed me to make it thru ,until i surrendered in 84.Its more like part of my life rather than a job.I love the people I serve,i HAVE GROWN UP WITH THEM.(MANAGEMENT IS ANOTHER STORY,TALK ABOUT "WANTING A DRINK!!!).Anyway ,getting long winded now but whenever I can get a laugh out loud moment  I need to reflect.Glad you are here my friend ,like Michael J said you do show wisdom beyond your years and always carry the message of hope!!thats the joint>>>Thanks for being in my life now back to the.......oh never mind!!!!                         mikeCool

Being that I'm in your age bracket, oh my, did I just type that!  Anyway, I never knew where the expression came from, but I've sure heard enough times.  You can dredge the memories up though.....

Interesting.  I don't know if I heard that or not.  I was curious about what type of mines there were in New York ...
