    Re: the new sober.com!

Hey Kimmie....I'm with ya...It's a sober site...run by people who are supposed to understand we alkies/addicts don't like a lot of upheaval in our lives.  It wouldn't take my password either.  I tried to sign in for days.    Finally I hit "forgot my password" and they sent me a new one...yeah that was fun.  I started cussing at the screen wondering what idiot made them up...it was something like  TR14_D03.1@S3@T.1    HUH????  LOL

Anyway...I'm logged back on now with the same old password it wouldn't except....and I'm pretty much lost too.  My big question.... is this going to be a continual repeating pattern every year?  Didn't we just go through a big change not to long ago?

Yeah...it looks cool...really pretty....but also seemingly complicated.  Many of us here are "old school" trying to do our best with computers.  I think you feel like I do...we weren't born with our hands on a keyboard...so it's more difficult for us to muddle through all this high tech stuff.  But, like last time, I think we will catch on eventually.

    Hey CJ!

In no time you will have this site down.  I am sure you can do it!

Your PM's are now called conversations.  You can find it under your profile.    At the top right hand side, you will see ' My Home Page' .   That is your personal site, and you might want to spend a couple of minutes there to navigate around to see what's out there.

    Thanks Clinton....

Yeah, I went to the home page and saw the conversations thing... I thought is was referring to recent posts.  Cool...... now i know it's a new word for PM"s.

Yep, I know I'll get it in time ...The longer I have sober the better I am getting at being accepting of new things.

I've been navigating the site (oooooh a high tech word...LOL)  and I'm learning.

I do really like these wider post screens.

I agree, the user interface needs to be easier, or more intuitive. Techies should have to work with us before they release something like this. It would be a shame to lose someone because they got frustrated with our communications system.

    Re: the new sober.com!

I don't know what happened to the help and chat features.  They were there and now they're gone.  Unless I just can't find them.  But if you go to your home page you can change the password to something you'll remember.  I agree in that not all of us are computer savvy and it could be a little easier for us in that sense.

I'm not crazy over the fact that when you go into somone else's info that you have to see all their "friends" or "activities".  Seems like it's more information than you need.  Plus some people might have hurt feelings if they aren't a 'friend'.  Most people just want to see where they're from and how old they are.

And when you click on a post, you have to scroll through all the posts instead of it coming up on the last one.  I know piss and moan, piss and moan.......I'm sure the bugs will get worked out at some point.

Yep Paw...I was wondering about CHAT too.  I tried to download some photos after Clinton told me the "how to"  and I mananged to get them on my home page, but they didn't appear in the media section....and I'm tired of trying to figure it out.....so I guess you guy will never get to see what I look like.  LOL

I agree there are too many pages to navigate.  Paw..... we can see other people's info??  Well.... I haven't foung that yet.   I managed to send a request to you for friendship...but be dang if I can remember how I did it...LOL

Time....Time....Time...yeah, uh huh.... like most of us have the extra time to figure all this out.  I'm up for forming a posse' to go after the administrator.

    PAW,

I noticed where you no longer have any "friends".  I figured your reasoning in that.   I might do the same.  I don't want someone to get hurt feelings because I haven't added them yet or not.

    All,

Ultimately, I remind myself that this site is free to all of us.  Unlike AA or NA, we do not pay a dollar each time we login.  Overall, the dollar is being made by those who own the site, and its their discretion of how they want to choose to market their site to make more money.

GOSH i am completely exhausted.  Not a lot of sleep this weekend!  It's 11:21 a.m. here and I've already been to Starbucks twice today.  Once at 6 a.m., and the second time at 10 a.m. (my boss treated us).   I'm beginning to feel the jitters, and there's still payroll to do later on this afternoon...

    Re: the new sober.com!

Here's some navigation instructions....More will be Revealed soon!

Sign In at the top right hand corner. Then select “My Home Page” in the same corner. This will direct you to your own Home Page which is similar to your Public Profile which is what other members can view. On your Home Page which is your own personal page, you will find:

Your Friends: People whom you request to be your friend or vice versa. To request other members to be your friend, you can search through the “Members” found on the top of the page. Find the person’s profile you wish to befriend and click on their name to be directed to their home page. Under their main picture is the option to “Add to Friends”. Click on the “Add to Friend’s” and a request will be sent for friendship. You can also see other’s profiles by going to someone who is already your friend and search through their friends for requests.

If a member requests to be your friend either an email will be sent to your personal address, or you can go to your “Home Page” and click on the “View All Friends” option which is found directly below “Your Friends” and then select “Requests for Review”. You then have the option to “Accept” or “Reject”.

“Forums” contains your most recent posts and you can click on the “View All Discussions” to see all your posts.

“Your Conversations” are what are formerly known as PM’s. These are private messages that can only be seen by you and the other member who has written the message.

“Friends Activity” shows what “Your Friends” have been doing on the site. Whether it be who they are friends with, or what discussions they have been posting in the forums.

“Your Files” We can now upload files to be viewed on our “Public Profile”! Yay! Click on “View all and Upload Files” in this area and follow the instructions to upload files from your computer.

“Favorites” gives you the option to select favorite posts or sections for easy access on your Home Page. When you read a post, you can click on the “favorites” button on the top. That will store the post in your “Favorites” on your Home Page, so you can click and be directed to that certain post.

I hope this enough to start off with! I will write more and if you have any questions, feel free to send me a “Conversation”(PM)

Much love to all and have a nice night!!!!

    interesting ...

You've created a blog.  I know if you go to 'my home page', there might be a blog section.  There is on mine, but I haven't found how to write a blog yet.

Karebear?  Luvenesco? Maybe they can help here.
