Hi Everyone,
Nice to meet you, Karen. My name is Danny, and I'm new here, too. Grew up in the Boston area about a million years ago, but New Zealand is home these days. Attended rehab and received some spiritual counseling back in 1993, both of which saved my life. Just signed up for the Recovery Coach training course offered here, and hoping to use the training to help other alcoholics/addicts in need. Looking forward to meeting others here and getting to know everyone better.
today is the next step in the journey......paw
Hey Danny Welcome to the family and your continuing journey in "recovery" and multiple years sober. It is always a blessing to have more people in the "helping' field for this deadly disease.I could only suggest that from the "literature it tells us "that the progression of recovery is a continuous uphill journey and without effort we slide down the hill again, but the real kick is that ,the progression of the disease is ongoing "even during abstinence"!I don't personally believe we ever "have this" as I know the disease manifests itself in all areas of our lives and we must remain forever vigilant. That being said we all have our own process to work and helping each other is a primary purpose of "working the process as one addict helping another is without parallel. Nice to meet you and hope you keep coming back!!! I have run Boston Marathon 4 times and my mom is living in rockport ,MASS ,close to Boston area..My last Boston was in 2004,if it isin God's will for me I will try to qualify one more time for this wonderful event.Seems to be getting a litle more difficult each year!! AHHH the joys of aging.......peace....
Thanks for the warm welcome, paw and MIKEF. It's great to join a community of like minded people, with one purpose in mind! Looking forward to learning more, and hopefully contributing, as well.
