First off, this forum is so awesome in helping people get connected so that people who are having trouble with drugs or alcohol don't feel in the dark. I remember when I was looking for a drug rehab center it was so difficult to pick the right one. What I tell people is just go with your gut! Obviously longer termed programs are also usually the best.

Drug rehab centers should provide detox, counseling, and some sort of life skills because its really important for people suffering from drug or alcohol addiction to learn how to cope. Drug rehabs that teach a person to confront, control, and communication are ones that I would recommend.

Thanks again Sober.com for giving me a voice to help people recover!!

I understand how important it is to find a drug rehab that offers long term care. I went into a long term rehab and now I am clean

Long-term self care can be incredibly important as well. 3 years after I quite drinking I discovered that a new habit had crept into my life. This one wasn't as obvious, but it is connected to my sobriety. Trading in one habit for another seemly less harmful is common, for me it turned into an addiction to shopping. So I found myself having to get back on the horse and tame this new beast as diligently as I handled my recovery from drinking.

I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be
